Toolbar state of Computer and Trash windows
Authored by: noworryz on Apr 06, '03 09:06:07PM

I was asked about the toolbar visibility state of the Computer and Trash windows (by someone who gave me a bad email return address).

The toolbar state of these windows is written at logout to the Finder's ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist file in the properties Root/ComputerOptions/ComputerToolbarVisible and Root/TrashOptions/TrashToolbarVisible.

However, the states are never used when the Finder creates the data structures for the windows when they are first opened -- an obvious bug that can be reported to Apple feedback. These windows always show the toolbar after you log in. (You can make the toolbars less obtrusive by turning off their icons in View/Customize toolbar.)
