None of these approaches work for me

Nothing I try allows me to play Star Trek: First Contact with Apple's DVD Player (version 3.2). The multilingual copyright notices display and then playback just stops. I have tried creating disc images with Toast and Disc Copy, I have tried DVD Backup, I have tried simply copying the VIDEO_TS folder to my hard drive, all without success.

I can use VLC to play the movie from hard drive, but playback stutters too much on my 12" Aluminum PowerBook, even dropping the resolution to 800x600 (which allows Apple's DVD Player to play smoothly on the PowerBook's nVidia graphics hardware).

I suspect there's something at the end of the copyright notices that causing playback to stop in Apple's DVD Player; VLC skips those notices.
