Very cool hint. The only problem I'm having is finding the Apple logo in the Character palette. Does anyone know where that lives?

Good hint. Is there any way to increase the size of the glyphs or to bold them? Some show up as really small or faint in the bookmarks bar.

I found it in there, obviously ;-). Check in the Misceallaneous or Dingbats areas, and set the font pop-up to Lucida Grande. You might also try the "All Glyphs" (or something like that) tab...

You can otherwise use Option-Shift-K (if you're using a QWERTY).
