Explaining the Finder's view options and toolbar visibility

Not sure if this is technically part of the Finder issue going on here - but what bugs me more than the Finder, are the Open, Save, Save As.... type dialogs. Those things seem to have a mind of their own... jumping all overthe place, erratic keyboard reponses, etc. I have given up on even trying to understand that. First thing I do when I set someone up with a new OS X install - apologize for the wonkiness in the dialogs and tell them it should be fixed soon. Well soon has turned into over two years now and still waiting.....

On the good side of this... the oddities of OS X GUI have pushed me into learning more and more UNIX and CLI. I almost preer to navigate, and do whatever possible using the CLI. So much faster and predictable. Of course thats the beauty fo OS X - I can have my CLI when I want and switch to GUI if I need be.
