Desktop in your Documents

Pretty cool! We should be able to put the Desktop folder wherever we
want it, but I'm generally pleased that it finally is a non-hidden folder
that can be displayed however we want it to be, and especially, can be
backed up! My own preference is to have it on the dock as a big icon
view window where I can arrange things as I like, and always be able to
see them by bringing it to the top. I call it a "self-clearing desktop or
deskpad", and with OS X, we can have a picture backdrop or a pattern
for better contrast, as we choose. Plus, there is a toolbar for filing
purposes when we want it that way.

Now the only question is why one would want to use the classic
desktop any more. With desktop files in a Finder window, why have
those icons mucking up whatever desktop picture is in place? How about
an option to turn off file/folder display just like we can turn off disks and
servers? Then we could go either the OS 9 way or the OS X way, at our
choice.

Long live Mac OS!
