It Worked!!!!
Authored by: bingster on Jan 27, '03 11:21:11AM

well this is what i do. i DL the flash kit with right rom etc. Then i put the Nvidia extensions in os 9 system and want to reboot in os 9 to flash the card. But my system wont startup, all i get is the grey screen. Am i doing something wrong ?. I guess that u can only flash the card if the nvidia drivers are in extensions folder ?.

How many graphic card do you have in your computer? If you have a card installed in one of the pci slot, remove it.

What geforce2 model did you buy?

hummm...

Did you try to update your G4 firmware? Go to the apple support section to download the update. The only difference I see, is that my Asus card is a Pro PURE not a Pro SE like yours, but I don't think this is the problem.

If you remove the nVidia extensions, can you reboot in OS 9.2 with at least one resolution?

because i really dont get this.

OK, Here's exactly what I did: I first downloaded the files. Then I run the flash script, nothing happened, no black screen. So I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers (2.1.1) from Apple. I tried to updates the nVidia drivers but it didn't work, I got a message telling me that I can't install that on my computer. So I took the Tome document in the installer files folder (in the Geforce Graphics Update folder), and I expanded it with Tomeviewer, I took the expanded files and put them in the extension folder of the os 9 system folder, and I rebooted in OS 9.2. Then I run the following script (with the apple script app.) : tell application "AENV MacFlash [1045-MRS]" FlashROM end tell Before running this script save it in the same location where you put the AENV MacFlash [1045-MRS] application. If everything's ok your screen should turn black for 10-15 seconds, you must reboot to see the 1045 ram in your system profiler. After that, you can reboot in OS X!!!

Weird...

The only thing I see is a conflict between your extensions, remove all the new nvidia extensions and look for old nvidia drivers and erase them. What is your old card, nVidia or Ati?

You can also try to add the new extensions one by one to see which one is causing your problem...
