The Essence of Safari methinks

The new faves management functionality is, for me, the real breakthrough in Safari. I have several folders on the toolbar (i.e., "design," "news," "blogs," etc.) which represents a huge leap in ease of use from the old "linear" favorties menu paradigm.

Auto-completion of URLs is an essential function for me to begin with, but coupled with this kind of easy to manage favorites list, it really hits its stride.

I must say however, that the close cousin of this feature, auto form-fill (avail in IE) is VERY sorely missed. It is this shortcoming that is keeping the big E icon in my dock. While I love the Safari browser for browsing, when I go online to do web commerce or manage e-mail accounts, I still boot IE.

If Apple adds the form-fill functionality, I can completely disengage from IE (as an everyday browser) for good.

I totally agree. Safari is fast, minimalist and completely useable. It quickly became my browser of choice, replacing Chimera Navigator. The only reason I have always kept IE on board is "auto fill'. Give me AF in Safari and ...pooof.. IE's gone like a dock alias.
