Sync Safari bookmarks...
Authored by: mangosi on Jan 15, '03 12:40:26PM

I had used Backup to do sync my bookmarks between all my machines, but when iSync came out, I was disappointed by the fact you couldn't use it to sync your bookmarks as you can with iCal and Address book info.

It would seem that syncing your bookmarks would be the next logical item to auto-sync under iSync. That would make sense to me since WWW browsers are already in place on Palm devices and cellphones.

Perhaps we should spam Apple to add such a feature.

The only thing that would prevent this from being quickly implemented is that every other web browser uses a different format to store bookmarks.

Does anyone know if there's anything close to a "standard", open source bookmark file format?

Sync Safari bookmarks...

Not sure about all the discussion about an integrated bookmark format (we will probably never see that in our lifetimes), but I do know that I have (long ago) created a utility that attempts to somewhat sync your bookmarks to your iPod, iDisk and FTP servers. It's called "My Favorites Martian" and it can be found at the If Then Software site: http://www.ifthensoft.com. I just added Safari support, which joins IE & Chimera support.

It is considered donationware, so please be kind and donate (via paypal, see the site) if you find the software useful. We will not nag you while the program runs, but I will take this moment to nag you instead.
