Any way to disable GIF animation?
Authored by: Dr. Smoke on Jan 13, '03 10:56:00AM

Based on the hint above, I've tried a couple of things in an attempt to disable GIF animation in Safari. I made these modifications using Property List Editor:

1. Based on looking at OmniWeb's preferences, I tried adding

WebKitAnimationMaxLoops > Number > 0

to Safari preferences. This didn't work.

2. Based on the format of WebKitJavaEnabled I tried adding

WebKitAnimationsEnabled > Boolean > No

to Safari preferences. This didn't work, either.

For me, Safari's lack of a preference to disable animated GIFs is just one of the reasons I've no interest in using this browser at present. At least other animations (e.g. Flash) can be disabled by disabling plugins, java, and javascript.

If someone finds a way to disable GIF animations, I'm interested!
