other worthwhile CMSes

Hi folks,

If you are serious about a CMS and you want more than a weblog-style one. then I have to point out the excellent MySource at squiz.net.

I am currently delivering a number of commercial website solutions based around this CMS and the more I use it the more I am impressed.

PHPwebsite is also greta if you want something cheap and cheerful.

If you like complexity then head over to typo3.de and check out Typo3. I found this harder to use the more I used it but maybe that's just me. It's certainly feature rich.

And there is also OpenCMS at opencms.org. This is Java-based and looks like the real thing (I'm sure it's designed by people familiar with Vignette) but frankly MySource wipes the floor with it.

Do yourself a favour and play with MySource for a bit, then decide.

I've managed to install MySource on a powermac at the office but I can't make it work. I have MySQL and PHP installed and working, I've managed to make the MySource installation, but I can't login as root, the system answer:"Authentication credentials incorrect or account locked. Please contact your website administrator for assistance."

We think the problem may be related to the way MySQL handles the User database on the mac. Does anyone has managed to install mysource on a mac?
