Newbie Question
I haven't messed around wth rendezvous much, so I thought trying this would be a fun start. I installed the plugin, my system now shows up in the Rendezvous bookmarks section, but when I double click it, my browser gets redirected to <hostname>.local which our DNS server doesn't know what to do with.
Newbie Question
You must have the Webserver Running on your computer. To turn it on, go to: System Preferences: Sharing and turn on Web Sharing. Then when you click on it, thew default Apache Server Files will display... With a little work, you can get your computer running it's very own server... My homepage is actually just this, so check it out...
Newbie Question
I've seen similar problems, I'm using squid on a local linux box as a proxy server.
Adding .local to the list of domains to not proxy works, but Safari insists on adding the trailing period if I click on the machine in the Rendezvous menu. http://imac.local/ works http://imac.local./ breaks I think my problem might be due to my local NetInfo setup forwarding the .local names to my linux box for DNS resolution. |
