1) go to finder
2) open a window
3) set it to list view
4) command-shift-n for a new folder

RESULT: it doesn't let you edit the name until you hit return

5) set to icon view
6) command-shift-n for a new folder

RESULT: It works

7) set to collumn view
8) command-shift-n for a new folder

RESULT: It works fine

EXPECT: it should work for those of us who love the list view. ;)

I submitted this to http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ but if anyone else feels strongly about it they should too. :)

Sure it does! 10.2.3


Press command, shift + n and get a new folder, edit the name and hit return to save. Hands never leaving the keys.

And it will EVEN keep your current selection(s) active. EVEN in the same column! That's nuts.. it rules for organizing.. just what the "Finder" was meant to do in the first place! :)
