Another thing to try....

Apple's KB article says to move /var/db/SystemConfiguration/preferences.xml. I did that, and still couldn't get past the blue screen. I deleted /var/db/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.nat.xml and then rebooted, and was able to get the login screen again. I was using Internet Sharing on my iMac with ethernet and dialup Internet, so that's why the NAT file was there. Seemed to do the trick.
