Upside Down Cake

Glad to hear that you've got your machine running...albeit a little unorthodox in position. That said, I've never really liked pineapples and had absolutely NO problems installing BETA, Final, and each of the upgrades in my old G3MT in the normal position so I'm inclined to think of your unusual success as slightly unordinary. But it worked so welcome aboard. The G3 is a little slow, but I use it more than any of my other, faster machines and it performs flawlessly.

I had similar problems loading onto a DT300. I had added a second hard drive, and to make cabling easier had connected the ZIP drive and second hard drive together, and CD-ROM and primary hard drive together. OS X hated this and would constantly dump the second hard drive. I reconfigured back to the original layout, removing the second hard drive, and everything worked like a charm. My suspicion is OS X is looking for the CD-ROM to be on a different bus than the hard drive.
