I don't understand Apple's (Steve's ?) stupid logic of only booting machines in OS X come January when it is *blantantly clear* that X is not yet 100% complete.

Apple simply doesn't want to commit any more resources to OS 9, and would have to continue have to update drivers and such in OS 9 to stay compatible with the latest hardware.

Classic, on the other hand, does not talk directly to the hardware, but instead is routed through OS X and the Mach kernel.
