iCal also fails when Diablotin is used to suppress fonts
Authored by: Mitchell on Nov 19, '02 11:34:15AM

I use Diablotin to weed out the font list of fonts for languages I can't speak yet, never use, or find unattractive. I went through the same process to find that the lack of Helvetica Neue was crashing iCal. But putting it back lets iCal work fine, and now my font list in most applications is manageably small.

iCal also fails when Diablotin is used to suppress fonts

Yesterday I discovered that ICal refused to start. This is after I installed Diamond Soft's Font Reserve 3.1.1. Font Reserve moves all but 15 fonts from the System Fonts folder. Diamond Soft says that Apple's iApplications require Helvetica fonts to run. They get around this by auto activating fonts required by these applications and others.
The crash log said iCal crashed because it could not find the required Helvitica font. I permanently activated the Helvetica fonts using Font Reserve. Now iCal works. But Font Reserve for some reason is not auto activating for iCal. It works for the rest of the applications.

Thanks for your observations

Bobne
