You could use the system I have used since OS 8
When you create a new favourite URL do not add it to your browser application's favourites. Instead drag it to the desktop. Then store this file in a "URLs" folder (I keep mine in my Favourites folder (~/library/Favorites))
If you drag the URLs folder to the dock - then you can access all your favourites from the dock.
Now here comes the clever part: these URL files are application independent - so they work in any browser and are easy to transfer & back up. No more "importing your favourites" - if you change sides in the next big browser war, all you need to do is change your preferred browser in the internet prefs. The urls will now open in your new browser!
Great idea!
That's very cool. I'll have to give that a whirl...
Me too
I do this too...now I guess the next step is to figure out how to get (hack) Chimera to read as its bookmarks the contents of a folder of these URL files. From the looks of things, it should be pretty easy...the Description field could simply be the contents of the file's Comments field. Of course, there isn't any simple way to do the Keyword. (Keyword-Description perhaps?)
add launchbar
Drop this URL folder on Lauchbar, have it scan for "any file", and now your favorites are just a command + space away! |
