O.K. How bout a 600Mhz iBook w/RageM6

Does anybody have this working on a 600Mhz iBook with a RageM6 video card? The Apple System Profiler is confusing me... I think that the machine has a Radeon video card in it(it is supposed to, I just bought it last month), but I am not sure since the Profile lists the card as an ATY,RageM6.

Also, in article on the website they mention there being 2 nodes in the video card tree under the PCI heading in ASP and I only have one. Oddly enough, I seem to remember there being two nodes in the tree before I upgraded to Jaguar. Weird...

If anyone has this working on a similar system, an acknowledgement would be vastly appreciated.

Yes I believe the ibook you are talking about does indeed have a Radeon card in it. My iBook 700mhz reports the same card model as yours, ATY, RageM6. It has 16mb of ram on the video card. I think one way you can tell which model you have is by the side where all the ports are. If you have a small paperclip reset button above the headphone jack, then you have one of the older, 500mhz-600mhz model (which does not work with the hack posted.) The newer, latest models do not have this paperclip reset hole. These are the 600-700mhz models that will work correctly with the hack. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed how to tell the two apart? Thanks

Danny

I can confirm that this does work on the G3/600 iBook (16 VRAM). In fact, I am typing this on the extended desktop running right now at 1280x1024 at 75 Hz on an external CRT.

I'd be interested in finding out what the limitations are for driving external displays, e.g., whether it can do 1600x1200 at 75 Hz in 24-bit color. Anyone try this? I'll give it a shot on a few LaCie and Studio Displays this Saturday and report my findings.

FYI, my graphics adapter is listed as RageM6 in the System Profiler. The standard NVRAM reset (OPT-CMD-P-R at boot) seems to reset everything back to the factory state.

I'm wondering about this... I'm not sure if my 'book will work, it's the 700 MHz one with the larger screen. I'm running Jaguar, and when I look in the system profiler it says RageM6 for the graphics card too. Would this work?
