Capture a DVD screen with the Apple DVD Player

Don't be put off by the multitude of steps that follow. It's much easier than it looks.

Using Mavericks & DVD Player:
1. Play DVD
2. Pause on desired frame of video.
3. Control click on image.
4. Select "Use current frame as jacket picture."
5. Click on stop in DVD player control. (Video image will disappear momentarily, then reappear.)
6. Open Apples "Grab." (found in "Utilities.)
7. Under Capture, select "Section."
8. Position cursor where capture is to begin.
9. Move cursor to highlight desired capture area.
10. Release cursor.
11. "Untitled" image appears on screen.
12. Go to "File" "Save."
13. Type name for image. Will save as .tiff.
14. Select where to save.
15. Click "Save."

You are now able to work with the saved image as you would any .tiff image.
