Keeping copies of OS installer

Call me old-fashioned, but I really don't understand the point of saving the entire Install OSX bundle - extracting the InstallESD.dmg file from each release, renaming it to reflect the respective version number (e.g. "Mac OS X 10.9.dmg") and saving that anywhere I like has never proven a problem.

Granted, when I reinstall OSX, I like to remove the Recovery partition (so the OSX installer rebuilds it from scratch using the new version) as well as preserve my home directory while deleting everything else by hand from Terminal, so perhaps that's why preserving only InstallESD.dmg (and applying it to a flash drive) fits my needs.

Starting with Mavericks, InstallESD does not contain the installer. It is just the packages
