Install OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview on a virtual machine

It is actually easy to patch InstallESD.dmg of "Install OS X 10.9 Developer Preview.app" to run and install Maverick on a fresh VMware virtual machine.

I already pasted the instructions here:
http://pastebin.com/4kG5ChsP

It's just about:
- converting read only disk image to read write
- resizing the read write disk image
- mounting the read write disk image
- allowing ownership on the mounted disk image (so system files keep their ownerships)
- mouting the original disk image
- mouting the boot image contained in the original disk image
- allowing ownership on the mounted boot image (so system files keep their ownerships)
- copying the boot image content to the read write disk image
- unmounting everything
-> patched Maverick disk image is ready

Then, you can create a Mac OS X 10.7 64-bit or OS X 10.8 64-bit virtual machine and boot using the patched disk image.

Apple Installers will tell you it is not a supported installation type, but you can launch a Terminal and run the installation using command line.

It is much more efficient and consume less time, but also a little more technical.

Please note Guillaume Gete recently upgraded Lion Disk Maker to support Maverick DP:
