Try Cmd O.

If nothing in the Finder window is selected, a new copy of the same Finder window opens.

That's what I get on Snow Leopard right now. It might be affected by a setting in Finder's preferences; I'm not sure about that, but it can't hurt to try.

On Mountain Lion, nothing happens when I do that.
