To configure an old HP LaserJet via Telnet:

Open Terminal:

telnet to the ip address of the printer mine was 192.168.1.50

to set the ip address to a 10.0.1.x address type these commands in terminal & hit return. At the end type "quit" and hit return this will save the settings to the printer.

telnet 192.168.1.50

ip:10.0.1.50

default-gw:10.0.1.1

quit

Now your printer is set with an ip address of 10.0.1.50 and a default gateway address of 10.0.1.1
