10.5: Install on a PPC Mac from an external USB Drive
Ooh my GAWD. I am SUCH a noob to all things Mac. I bought this li'l PPC or G4 thing, as you guys call it. I call it an old-as-hell, boxy white thingy, pre-intel that hopefully will help me teach myself the basics of Mac before I drop $4K on a whole system. It is a little difficult to run Logic and Final Cut Pro on this computer with 10.4, so I upgraded the RAM and still nothing. Then I needed to upgrade OS's - um - how the HELL do you squeeze 6G on a DVD? Windows is not real keen on dual whatever - as far as I have experienced, so I needed to boot form USB. YOU SAVED MY LIFE, well saved a lot of headaches, at least. You sure as hell made things a lot easier. I did not even know what a "node" was in the instructions, but they were so well written and concise with examples, it made it virtually impossible to screw up. I am booting up and installing 10.6 as we speak and will be a Mac Diva before long. Thank you SO much. You really do not know how much I appreciate the amount of time and revisions it had to take to make such an excellent tutorial. Bravo! |
