10.6: Launch applications via keyboard shortcuts

This app can be used for many things besides opening applications. First download BetterTouchTool at http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/32953/bettertouchtool and make sure it opens on startup. Then open it. Once you have opened it, click on the menubar icon and click "Preferences". Click "Gestures" on the top and then "Keyboard". Then click "Add new keyboard shortcut" Click under "Keyboard Shortcut" and define your shortcut, and under "Predefined Action" drop down menu, click "Open Application / File / Script..." and a menu will come where you choose the application you want to open. Click on your desired application and then close the preferences window. That's it! You're done! By the way, this app can be used with gestures on trackpads and mouses and many other keyboard shortcuts.

Hope this helps!
