Re-Enable Apple provided Java applet plug-in
Many older Java programs will not run on Java 1.7 so you have to re-enable 1.6 plugin if you need Java to work for most older applets. Edited on Oct 25, '12 02:36:24AM by agentx
Re-Enable Apple provided Java applet plug-in
You are incorrect. All older Java programs will run in Java 1.7. Java has always maintained a rigid backward compatibility policy.

You are right, but also wrong. There are many applets that are part of internal systems at offices that don't work on 1.7. I have run into a few cases myself and know of a few. It's nice to be able to go back to the old version sometimes. In some cases, it's as simple as the developer put and = in a version check rather than a >= so it messes up on older compatibility test.

I am in agreement that it "should" all work but i assure you in the real world of System Administration there are several things that do not work ! Hence my comment. Crashplan / Powerschool does not run yet on Java core 1.7 which is a serious PITA as i have it deployed on lots of machines. |
