10.6: Install Battery Update 1.4 under Snow Leopard
Authored by: crewof502 on Oct 01, '12 09:00:59PM

I followed the directions as posted, but to no success. The files installed, but the installation never flashed the battery and never updated. I found a work around to manually force the update and it has worked successfully.

To Update the Battery using Pacifist and using a work around to force the installation manually:

1. Download Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/ and install it. Download BatteryUpdate1.4.dmg, run it.
2. Launch Pacifist, ignore the registration screen - wait for 15 seconds, click "Not Yet"
3. Click "Open Package..."
4. Navigate to /Volumes/Battery Update 1.4/BatteryUpdate1.4.pkg
5. Select "Contents of BatteryUpdate1.4.pkg" and then click the "Install" button in the upper left corner of the Pacifist window
6. Run as administrator, enter your administrator password
7. Open Terminal and run this command without the quotes. "/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/BatteryUpdater.bundle/Contents/Resources/BatteryFlasher -bu14"
8. Now run Disk Utility.
9. Select your Macintosh HD, click repair permissions.
10. SHUT DOWN the computer.
11. Let the machine completely shut down and start the computer.
12. Click the Apple icon, click About This Mac, click More Info, Click Power and make sure the battery is updated.

Good to go!

10.6: Install Battery Update 1.4 under Snow Leopard

The fix above didn't work for me and I assumed it was because it wasn't running with admin priviledges, so for step 7 I ran the following instead:

7. Open Terminal and run this command without the quotes.

"sudo /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/BatteryUpdater.bundle/Contents/Resources/BatteryFlasher -bu14"

.. with sudo being the addition. Enter your admin password and you're done. The lot code changed immediately for me, I didn't even need to reboot.

10.6: Install Battery Update 1.4 under Snow Leopard
Authored by: nurisis on May 12, '13 06:47:51AM

Hi! I have a late 2008 white macbook, with snow leopard (I installed it after augrade to 4GB RAM memory).
Since last week my battery doesn't charge. It's 706 cycles, but until now it was charging 70%.

I tried to install Batery Update 1.4 following your steps, included modificate comand. But my 'lot code' doesn't change, it's still 0002.

I don't know if i'm doing something wrong, or simply my battery is dead and i have to buy another one.

Thank u for your answers!
