Which is your preferred ebook reader?

We have the Kindle fire, a second-gen e-ink Kindle, ipads, and a combo e-ink/lcd dual-display thing that's lying around here unused because it requires custom apps.

Of them all, I use the iPad the most, because i mostly read at night and the backlit display means I'm not disturbing my lady with room lighting. I'd be interested in a lighter, e-ink Kindle the day they get the back (or front) lighting right. Perhaps that's in this new set of Kindles; I'll be looking.

I do think it's kind of hilarious that Bezos thinks that cellular connectivity is the #1 feature; as long as a reader (or a tablet) has wifi -- which is often free and sharable -- I don't need cellular at all. And as far as tablet use outside of e-reading goes, the iPad still has the apps market wrapped up, so until or unless the Android people get their act together, I can't see the balance of the market shifting.

And as to that... you really can't make money that easily with an Android app. Too many versions of Android out there. Developers who have done both, as I have, quickly learn that the Apple app store is where the money, the stability, and the lowest maintainance is. Can Bezos change that? I'm skeptical, but certainly watching with interest.
