Extend battery life for latest MacBook Pros with gfxCardStatus
Authored by: ricede on Jul 09, '12 11:53:57PM

I found when using gfxCardStatus on my 2011 MBPro, that Growl - specifically GrowlAppHelper - set it to discrete permanently. If i deleted the GrowlAppHelper plist, it reverted to the Integrated setting. The problem was that as soon as Growl made another notification, it reverted permanently to Discrete again.

I contacted Cody at gfxCardStatus and he told me that some Themes cause this to happen. Change the theme to something else and then quit and restart Growl. I had downloaded a couple of new Growl themes & they were causing the problem. Growl behaves again, as far as graphic cards are concerned.

I am posting this to help anyone else who might have come across this same problem.
With thanks to Cody for his speedy reply & fix.
