Share your iPhoto library with Aperture (or vice versa)
Authored by: Twocybers on Jul 03, '12 04:19:41AM

I have both an Aperture and iPhoto Library. About 65% of the images in my iPhoto library are identical to images in my Aperture library. I was assured by an Aperture expert AppleCare person when I merged the libraries I would be given a chance to prevent duplicates. That did not happen. Worse, for reasons other people at Apple Care did not understand, TimeMachine could not restore the old libraries. Fortunately I made a duplicate copy of both libraries before I attempted the merge.

Serious Advice - have both Libraries copies as discrete files before you begin the merge - do not depend on TimeMachine or a "cloud" backup. Cloud system often have size limits well below a typical Image library size.
