Use keyboard shortcuts to skip and pause Flash videos
No, it's not incomplete, it's wrong. He categorically states "These only work with Flash videos; if you load HTML5 videos on YouTube, these shortcuts don't work. It's worth noting that some websites mention that you can use arrow keys and the spacebar to perform the above actions, but these don't work on Macs.". So, the tip summary needs to be updated. just drop those two lines, and replace them with "Ensure the movie has focus by clicking."
Use keyboard shortcuts to skip and pause Flash videos
Click or not, it doesn't work for me with HTML5 videos. So what could be different between my Safari and your browser? ---

Use keyboard shortcuts to skip and pause Flash videos
Even though it doesn't work for you, it is documented in several several places. Stating the spacebar and arrow keys don't work on youtube on mac is flat out wrong. Although one could be less acetic in tone when pointing it out, this hint, as written, is wrong. I even switched to the HTML5 viewer - same expected behaviour - click on video, it pauses. Now, spacebar and arrow keys work. Google acknowledges the HTML5 player has issues in full screen - space and arrow keys worked, extended control keys ( 1-9 to go to percent, 0 to beginning) do not work. |
