True, but if you want to scan a directory full of pdf's you can use the arrow keys to go from one to the next, and the hover/scroll technique is much quicker to view each one; plus you can resize the preview column to show the pdf file at near full size (depending on your resolution).

If you have a directory of files, you can press the space bar to Quick Look one file, then use the arrow keys to navigate; the preview changes as you key through the files.
