Restoring hidden apps to the list in the Mac App Store
Authored by: aMacUzur on Jan 13, '12 05:09:13PM

Nice, but does anyone know how to completely delete apps from the devices sync-setup lists? I have excessive clutter because I've downloaded (OK, "purchased" -- but for free) apps only to find that they are crap and so I'll never use them and just want them to "go away." However, even 'though they're hidden in the app store, they persist in the sync-setup lists for the iDevices upon which they were installed and later removed.

I've even deleted the applicable ".ipa" files under ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications/ on the various authorized machines that host the various iDevices but all the apps (i.e., including the "hidden" ones) still appear in each devices "Apps" lists in iTunes (i.e., for the Mac-to-device syncing setup).

While it's easy to understand why you shouldn't be able to lose track of items you've paid money for -- and I do see significant value in keeping track of which ones I've tried and rejected -- I don't see any value in continuing to clutter up the sync-setup lists with items I've hidden (and even completely deleted, locally).

[getting off the soap-box] Seems like Apple simply has a bad app-titude when it comes to removal. <word-play intended>

Coincidentally, 'cause of something else I was doing, I found the (somewhat obvious) solution -- select the "Apps" section in iTunes (i.e., on the left sidebar) and you can delete the entries. Du-oh!
