What I have had to do when setting up iCloud accounts on older or all other mail clients is to NOT use SSL, regular old port 25, with your iCloud email address as the username, and (obviously) your password as the password.

Try that and see if it works for you. Non-encrypted SMTP is not cool, but is probably something most people can live with.
