Where did you find the printer driver? I have a Dell 5100cn and the only driver Dell shows for this is PPC-only.

I see that the Mac OS X driver for the 5100cn was issued in 2005. Perhaps the printer is no longer supported for updates in the OS? The Dell rep that I spoke to mentioned that the lack of Rosetta support in Lion was partly responsible for the delay in getting out a new driver for the 5130cdn. It seems that Dell has been slow to embrace Mac OS X drivers that are specific to Intel processors?

Have you considered this link (Use a Dell 5100cn laser printer in Snow Leopard)? It worked quite well for me, also after upgrading to Lion.

This worked for me: http://www.cpierce.org/2011/07/getting-dell-5100cn-to-work-with-os-x-lion/ Make sure you use the updated installer.
