A possible fix for invalid sibling links on a hard drive

This is an ancillary note relevant to the topic as a whole.

A drive failed on an OS X 10.6 machine and all attempts at resurrection and mounting failed. Hence we needed to revert to target mode and connected the failed machine to an OS X 10.7 machine.

The point to note is that the firewire target mode screen was displayed but the failed drive was not initially visible on the OS X 10.7 machine. After some minutes however a window appeared to inform us that the drive could not be repaired but that files could be accessed. I imagine that fsck was being run on the target mode drive prior to it being displayed in the Finder.

So the point is to be patient when connecting failed drives in target mode.
