My iPhone 4 experience with ios 5
Authored by: gxw on Nov 03, '11 05:52:57PM

Had bad battery life after upgrading to IOS5 and migrating to icloud.
Before migrating to icloud the battery life was acceptable or seemed to be.

Did a restore last night.
Turned most of the icloud features off.
Turned off push on all accounts.
Set pull to manual on all accounts.
Turned off most location stuff.

Yesterday, before restore, I returned home with 30+ % battery. (made and received no calls yesterday)
Tonight I returned home with 96% battery left.

Before the restore I did turn off the timezone setting. This seemed to make no difference in batt. life.
On the iPhone 4 it's either the push/pull stuff or iCloud. I suspect it's the latter.

Notes:
I always have WiFi turned off.
I prefer no push or pull. That way the phone only retrieves data when I check it. (Works for me, YMMV). Drawback is I miss the occasional meeting reminder.
The register.co.uk had an article yesterday saying that a batt life beta patch has been released to developers.
