Not only the iPhone 4S
Authored by: ScooterComputer on Nov 03, '11 08:30:43AM

I think we should stop pairing "battery problems" and "iPhone 4S". From all indications (including Apple's own) and my personal results with my iPhone 3GS, this problem is with iOS 5 and iPhones (all of them).

My battery life on my 3GS has been dramatically shortened, and I've already disabled the Time Zone Location Service (did that right away, couldn't understand why it didn't ever turn off). I think the problem is with Push Notifications and cellular devices, since my WiFi only iPad has -not- seen a similar loss of battery longevity. The only difference on my 3GS is iOS 5, obviously, and that Push Notifications are by default globally enabled. (Under iOS 4 I always kept Notifications 'Off' and set the Fetch schedule to 'Manual'.)
