10.7: Unanticipated but welcome behavior in Photostream
This sounds, nice but then what do you do with the photos in the Camera Roll on the iOS device?

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing.

I keep it enabled, but turn off the automatic importing (which you can do in iPhoto’s preferences).

Ahh, yeah, that's the ticket. Best config at this point, anyway. Thanks!
10.7: Unanticipated but welcome behavior in Photostream
If all Photostream photos on my iPhone have been automatically imported into my iPhoto library on my laptop, when I connect my iPhone via USB to transfer the camera roll, it recognizes that these photos have been imported and asks if I want to delete them from the phone. Don't see what the problem is but maybe I'm missing something.

If that's how it behaves, then that's awesome. Will definitely see if I can get it to work like that when I get home -- thanks for the tip!

Hmm. When I connect my phone to iPhoto, it shows the photos and videos on it, split into two sections -- already imported, and not imported. But it doesn't offer to delete anything. How did you get it to do that?

I’ve never seen this, but I wonder if the key is “all Photostream photos”. I have 3 or 4 that have been there since before iOS 5 was released that I don’t care to import to iPhoto.
