Otherwise we can say that Escape exits (escapes…) Mission Control.

Anyway, one can do Option-click as well to select a different desktop. Or Control-"desktop number".

I don't agree at all that Escape escapes Mission Control. If it did, then it would return you to the Space you were in when Mission Control was activated whether or not you selected a different Space while Mission Control was active.

If you're going to click while in Mission Control, then any use of the keyboard is moot.

I don't think there is any way to go back to the original desktop. i.e. the one active when we entered MC. Escape does the same of every other "command" available. Like control-up, or using the hotcorners. Once a desktop is active that it the current desktop.

Regarding Alt-click I just mentioned it as an additional information. I opened an Enhancement Request to have right-click (Control-click, two fingers-click in the old trackpad) working with it. It would make life much easier, but Apple doesn't seem to listen.
