No my PowerBook won't start at all, and all I get is a hughe forbidden sign in stead of the upstart.

Anyone who actually knows what they're talking about who has a solution here? What the heck do I do now?!!

Pop in your OS X DVD, restart while holding down the C key, and once you get to the Installer, do an "Archive and Install". That is, assuming you are still running 10.3, as this hint is for 10.3.x, and NOT newer versions of OS X.

If you are running a newer version of OS X, the method for clearing out the kextcache is considerably different; it's best to let a utility like Onyx take care of it for you.
