10.7: Quick Look .weblock files
Authored by: llee on Aug 11, '11 08:09:24AM

The forums used to let me include links. Now I can't include the link I wanted to provide, which is a disappointment. Anyway, I wanted to include a link for Web Location Converter in my comment, but since i can't, I'll explain what it is, then ask a question.

Web Location Converter used to allow you to drop a .webloc file and convert it to text. In Snow Leopard, it stopped working because dragging, which formerly returned information about the file itself such as its location on the disk, stopped returning any such information about the .webloc file except for its contained URL. I contributed a hint about dragging these files to the Spotlight search field to retrieve their contained URLs as an alternative to otherwise editing the file or visiting the contained URL to be able to get at that information.

I haven't moved to Lion yet, so I wanted to know whether dragging a .webloc file yields the same result with regard to clip flavors returned as it did in Snow Leopard.

@crarko: I was going to comment here about how it's still totally possible to include links, but @llee is right -- it's throwing up a "Spam detected" error when you try to embed any link at all.
