it might be a good idea to test this method without overwriting your existing OS. follow the instructions above, except do the install on an external (FireWire or USB) drive, then try to boot the unsupported Mac from that drive. if all goes well, you can either start over with the internal drive or use the Migration Assistant to move your system to the external drive then clone back to the internal drive.
