Why cut & paste? The Finder uses drag & drop.

Agreed. It's a misunderstanding of what the Finder is *for* that creates bloat "hints" like this. It's not meant to be a Windows Explorer/Program Loader/Start Menu replacement.

You can drag over a disk or folder icon and that destination will open -- keep navigating using the icon to push the destination icon open. When you drop the icon, the destination folders will close successively.
