New poll: Upgrade plans for 10.7.

Considering that when Apple announced Lion, they said it would be exclusively through the App Store, and did not say whether or not you could then burn an install image, I think it is perfectly reasonable for people to be a little distraught over the distribution method.

I am going to require a DVD install image at some point before I upgrade to Lion. Ever try resetting someones password with a previous versions boot DVD? bad things can happen.

Also will need bootable DVD for things like checking a possibly drive, and many other things you can do with the utilities that are available from the installer.

Hopefully we will be able to burn an install image like we can with the developer previews. Requiring a repetitive 4GB download for each and every Mac you authorize in your house (one of the features allowed in Lion) would be absolutely ludicrous.

From what I've heard on the Mac Geek Gab, you will be able to burn an image - I guess that's just speculation though. They also said Lion will create a recovery partition on the HD, which will be the same as booting from the DVD - that one they said is documented by Apple.
