New poll: Upgrade plans for 10.7.
I just don't know why people are getting worked up here and all over the net, about whether we can install Lion from a DVD or a disk-image. Why don't we wait and see? We know that Apple keeps stuff close to their chest until the right moment. Do you really think that Apple would be so stupid as to require you to download a 4GB file every time you need to install? I'm not a dev, so have no inside info, just someone who's seen Apple not be too stupid with most things since 1979...

Considering that when Apple announced Lion, they said it would be exclusively through the App Store, and did not say whether or not you could then burn an install image, I think it is perfectly reasonable for people to be a little distraught over the distribution method.

From what I've heard on the Mac Geek Gab, you will be able to burn an image - I guess that's just speculation though. They also said Lion will create a recovery partition on the HD, which will be the same as booting from the DVD - that one they said is documented by Apple. |
