Share WiFi within WiFi in Hotel-Like Situations

This should work fine... I have done both, your solution pdquinlan, and TF's solution. Do you have internet connection sharing turned on on your Mac to share the internet connection over ethernet? If this isn't the problem, I know I've occasionally had problems using different types of wireless security... you may want to turn off security while troubleshooting...

Get a router with DD-WRT. It can (the router) receive a signal and then create a new network. Depending on the situation you create either a wireless bridge

or a repeater bridge

You lose half the bandwidth but 802.11g/n bandwidth usually is much higher than a hotel connection anyway.
