10.6: Install Battery Update 1.4 under Snow Leopard
Authored by: DavyB on May 03, '11 12:12:58PM

I found a modified version of this and ran it under Snow Leopard. My battery model number is the same as the one listed for this update, but the rest of the specs didn't match up perfectly.

For about a year I have been having trouble with my battery. It would only hold about a 40 minute charge and always said "condition: replace soon."

Since I didn't have much to lose, I ran this updater to see what would happen. The battery menu bar item now shows "condition: normal" and I have at least doubled the usage time and the battery. Also, it doesn't drain nearly as fast while the computer is asleep.

Here are my battery's specs:

Model Information:
Manufacturer: DP
Device name: ASMB013
Pack Lot Code: 0001
PCB Lot Code: 0000
Firmware Version: 0102
Hardware Revision: 0300
Cell Revision: 0200

It doesn't appear that the firmware was updated, but I think the updater does some sort of "flash" to the battery that has seemed to reset everything back to normal.

Anyway, I'm not sure of all the technical things involved, but I do know that running this has made my battery usable again.
