A possible fix for invalid sibling links on a hard drive
Authored by: tlthimm on Mar 27, '11 12:16:10PM

I need help - I am fixing a friend's G4 running 10.4.1:
For some reason she has 3 volumes - Mary 1 and Mary 2 are under the 128 GB Maxtor. The third volume, Mac HD, is under the 17 GB Seagate. I was able to repair Mary 1 using Disk Utility. Mary 2 gets a cannot continue message, but has nothing on it so I would like to remove this volume.
Mac HD is getting the sibling link error and when I run through Terminal using the hints, the unmount command says command not found. I tried the -r fsck command and it says it cannot repair volume when it is mounted with write access. I then try the -f fsck command and it gives the sibling link error again. Does anyone have any ideas, tips, or suggestions?
