Beware of using edited distribution lists with Smart Groups!
Authored by: robleach on Mar 18, '11 07:37:25AM

Wow, this is screwed up! Editing the distribution list for a smart group in address book did not actually change the email address selection behavior for me. When I sent an email to my distribution list, I received the same complaints about sending to the wrong email addresses that I've always gotten. I checked my sent mail and indeed, the wrong address had been sent to and when I looked in address book, the right one was bolded! So I started experimenting by starting the email different ways - same result - wrong addresses selected. So then, suspecting the smart group was the culprit, I decided to make a static group, but I noticed all my static groups were GONE! I decided I'd recover them later and went ahead and made a temporary static group, dragged all of my smart group in, edited the distribution list, and composed an email. All the correct email addresses were selected this time! Can anyone else get an edited distribution list to work correctly with smart groups? I'm running 10.6.6.
